Over 10,000 runners will be taking to the streets in what is sure to be a fun-filled day!

What time will it start?

The ABP Newport Wales Marathon Festival takes place on Sunday 13 April. The marathon and half marathon begin at 9am and the 10K starts at 9.45am. Junior races begin at 12pm.

What’s the route?

A refreshed course was introduced in 2024 – taking in similar highlights as in previous years but with adjustments to improve atmosphere and event experience.

This year sees a slight change, with runners heading north along the riverfront to start the race, and then up Skinner Street onto a city centre loop which takes in High Street, Newport Market and Newport Castle.

Upon leaving the city centre, the marathon course will include a loop of Newport’s International Sports Village, which is home to the Geraint Thomas National Velodrome, Newport Stadium and Dragon Park – and even feature a part-lap of the athletics track.

Full details of the course, including route maps, are available on the race website.

Where is the Race Village?

The Race Village will be located next the University of South Wales building on Usk Way.

Car parking, park and ride facilities and road closures are detailed on the race website too.
