SNAPSHOT - THE SHOCKING STATE OF CITY STREETS
FLY-TIPPING IN MAINDEE AND CLARENCE PLACE
Pictures taken over the last few months illustrate the shocking neglect of some parts of the eastern gateway in to the city centre. Some residents are flagrantly ignoring care for their own environment and the law by dumping rubbish outside of empty shops and in car parks. Children were playing amongst the piles of rubbish in Maindee in April at risk of disease and vermin. Some of the premises pictured particularly the pigeon infested shop in Clarence Place have been in this state for months and still remains the same just along from the derelict TJ's building. It is not enough to just rely on the state / the Council to clear up your mess, take some responsibility for it yourself. The pictures underline the shocking lack of care for the environment and particularly the impact on the welfare of children in our city centre districts. Efforts are being made to clean up parts of Maindee by volunteers but much of the problem is caused by some residents.
